populous state in the nation with 12,050,000 people in 1993. By 2000, it's
projected to be the 5th most populous state with 12,296,000 people, and by
2020 the 6th most populous with 12,656,000 people.
Death Benefits Act
On June 24, 1976, the Governor
signed an act providing for the payment of death benefits to surviving
spouse, children, parent or parents of fire fighters, ambulance service or
rescue squad members or law enforcement officers killed in the performance
of their duties. The Act has been amended twice since 1976. The most
profound amendment came in December 1994.
